Ex OM
Le Officine Meccaniche - OM - di Milano erano un immenso complesso industriale situato nella zona sud della città a ridosso del quartiere Vigentino. Attive tra il 1899 e il 1975, producevano automobili, macchine agricole, mezzi ferroviari, motori e veicoli industriali. Negli anni 90, l'intera area viene riconvertita in condomini, uffici pubblici e privati, parchi. L'unica testimonianza dell'antico passato industriale è il vecchio carroponte che si erge solitario nel "Parco Ex Om" o "Parco delle memorie industriali", inaugurato nel 2004. La riqualificazione dell'area prevedeva anche la costruzione di un anfiteatro da 1500 posti, un frutteto e vari giardini non ancora realizzati.
"Officine Meccaniche" - OM - in Milan were a huge industrial area located in the southern part of the city, next to the Vigentino district. Between 1899 and 1975, cars, agricultural machinery, railway and industrial vehicles, engines were produced in its enormous plants. In the 90s, the area was converted into condos, public and private offices, parks. The only heritage of the old industrial past is the lonely overhead crane that stands still in the "Ex-OM Park" or "Industrial Memory Park" opened in 2004. The redevelopment of the area also included the construction of 1500 seat amphitheater, an orchard and several gardens which have not been realized yet.
Ex OM è incluso in "Milan Factories Revisited", un progetto, nato per caso nel 2011 e tuttora in corso, riguardo vecchie fabbriche e aree industriali milanesi che sono state riconvertite in nuovi spazi.
Ex OM is part of "Milan Factories Revisited", a project, born by chance and still in progress, about former Milanes factories and industrial areas which have been converted into new spaces.
